Dachshunds checking out the snow

Here are two of the dachshunds checking out the areas I cleared from them. The snow is too deep for them to go outside otherwise. Having short legs myself, I empathize with them.

The Swing Test

All we have to do is look out the back door to see how much snow we got. This is how much snow we got last night: about a foot of really heavy, wet snow.

Farm and Garden Design Post

I will be taking a farm and garden design class for the next few weeks from Sharon Astyk and Aaron Newton. So there will be a lot of posts on my yard and garden over the next few weeks.
The photo below is of the pergola my husband built. Eventually we would like hops growing up the back of the pergola.

The photo below is one of two raised beds my husband is building for me. We have very heavy clay soil, so it helps to build some good planting soil in the beds. The bed is about twelve feet long by four feet wide, although as part of the class I will be taking more precise measurements.

More photos and garden dreams to follow!

Wulf and Fawn

Wulf and Fawn are demanding equal time. No favoring the new pup!

Today it looks like this.

So, no sitting outside in the chair today for Dapple.

Dapple

Let's see, Dapple was born January 15, we brought her home March 17, and I am just now posting her picture? I am a bad doggie mom.
She is a chocolate and tan dappled piebald miniature dachshund. (Quite a mouthful for a dog that still weighs less than 10 pounds.)

Snow

Peering stealthily outside, where darkness should blanket everything, night snow illuminates the lawn. Swirling flakes fill the sky. Dachshunds step timidly out into the night. Tomorrow they will frolic; tonight is cold and wet, and warmth beckons from the house.
